Delivery & FAQs

Dispatch
I try to dispatch all items within 5 working days of receiving your order. However, bear in mind that every item I produce is individually handmade, and that during busy seasonal periods such as pre-Christmas, delivery may take a wee bit longer. If you’ve an especially urgent occasion, please flag this up at time of order and I’ll do my best to get it to you on time.

Shipping
For peace of mind (mine as well as yours ;) I dispatch all UK orders by Royal Mail ‘Recorded Delivery’. Delivery should take 2-4 days. For overseas orders I use the Royal Mail’s ‘International Signed for’ service, with delivery in 5-10 days. All orders will require a signature on delivery.

Note that all items sent via Royal Mail Recorded Delivery are subject to the Royal Mail’s terms. This means that parcels are not considered lost or missing until 15 days after dispatch. I cannot, therefore, send a replacement or make a refund until 15 days after order dispatch.

Shipping costs
UK: for items over £30 shipping is free, with orders below £30 subject to a £4 postage fee.
Overseas: a flat rate of £5 is charged on orders for Europe, and £7 worldwide.

Returns Policy
I really hope you are very happy with your purchase, but if you are not, you can return it to me within 14 days and I’ll replace it or refund the cost. If returning an item, please ensure that you send it ‘Recorded Delivery’ as I cannot be responsible for returns being lost in transit.

Online Payments
I use PayPal as the payment processor for online transactions on my site, as it offers the best combination of convenience and security - both for me and my customers. You don’t need to have a PayPal account to buy something from me, though. If you don’t have a PayPal account, then PayPal accepts payments from all of the major credit card companies.

Order Receipts
When you make an online purchase on my site, PayPal will automatically email you a receipt detailing what you have ordered and the final cost debited from your PayPal account or credit card.

Cosy Cosies Handmade Fabric Products
All of my products are individually handmade using a variety of fabrics and threads from different sources, so each item is unique and no two ever precisely the same. The item you get will therefore not be exactly as the one you see on my site, but will be very similar and be made from the same fabrics and using the same trim and colours.

Caring for your Cosy
Due to the mixture of fabric and threads used in my products, please wash your cosy carefully by hand in cool water. Cosies should not be wrung out or tumble-dried.

Who invented the Tea Cosy?

One popular theory goes that an Irish farmer in reaching across the dinner table accidentally dropped his hat from his head onto the teapot. When he later removed the hat he found that the tea was still nice and hot. His wife then decided to knit a purpose-made tea 'hat' for the pot, and she called this hat a 'cosy'.
